When you summarize information!!

Writing a summary helps you practice writing about something your own words. 



Step 1. Skim - Skim means you look at the headings.

                     Divide

Step 2. Read -  Read the paragraphs

                                   - Circles and look up any words you do not understand

Step 3. re- Read 

                         - underline the topic sentence in the paragraphs.

                         - Highlight, circle, underline what you want to use in you summary

                           ( the important supporting details)

                         - Avoid important not important to your summary.

Step 4. One or Two sentences

                    - In step 1, you divided the text write down the main idea for each

                       section use you own worlds
